Homestuck Re-read Part 38: Act 6 Intermission 1.

I just finished watching Weapons with my friend and it was fucking awesome. I wouldn't say it was especially scary but the whole time had this dreadful vibe that was inescapable. The cinematography was so fucking good too, and the ending was genuinely unexpectable. I love it. I think the next thing we're planning on watching is "Senritsu Kaiki File Kowasugi! File 01". It was recommended in this reignbot video and the parts she showed looked really good.

In terms of homestuck, we're doing the first act 6 intermission today. 95 pages with our original heroes.

HOMESTUCK INTERMISSION

We're starting with John and Jade on the Prospitian ship, traveling the distance between the two fenestrated walls. They're traversing the yellow yard between the windows. They are however being harassed by the giant image of robot hussie. Although he throws a curtain over it soon enough.

The voyage is going to take some time, however. 3 years until arrival. IIRC this was based on Hussie misunderstanding relativity and that it should actually be the opposite? But it's been a long time since I did physics and I was never that great at it, so I probably shouldn't be taking shots at the man for not understanding the effects of relativity on the passage of time.

The suicide mission was a success at it's true but unknown goal. The green sun was always destined to exist, and by this virtue it could exist before it was created. Rose and Dave then created it, completing the loop. The tumor created the sun that powered the guardians who made the creation of the tumor possible.

It's all terribly confusing.

BEC NOIR / PARCEL MISTRESS

The start of a great chase. No parcel to deliver, only revenge. But first, Serenity needs her help.

The remaining trolls rendezvous with Aradia, Dave, Rose and Sollux. All is seen by Jade and John. They know things are going to plan.

I forgot that, John doesn't know Vriska is dead yet. It doesn't look like Jade is going to tell him the bad news though.

Jade makes John her version of the choice. He can step through her like a gate, and travel on the meteor with everyone else. Or he can stay on the ship with her. She can't go, though. If John goes, she'll be alone. She says she has the consorts and carapicians, but that isn't going to be much fun, really. Oh and Davesprite. Love that guy. Especially knowing about what happens later, and how she doesn't handle it especially well alone. He can't even step through for a quick goodbye and come back.

He's going to stay with her for the trip. They toss a message through though. To let everyone know they're okay.

CORPSE PARTY?

Aradia has a rare opportunity for her human corpse party! She sees it as a bonding opportunity and I think it would help! Sollux is just a bit of a killjoy because one of the corpses is his. We also learn a bit more about Lord English's roll in Alternian myth, he's essentially their grim reaper. And now Aradia gets to be one too! Although she strikes me as a bit more similar to Death in the Discworld novels. Admittedly, a bit more cheery one. Helping the dead ease into their new post-life.

Aradia starts explaining some of the class roles and that Rose's essentially makes her the de-facto leader. There's nothing to do now but wait and then move. Towards nothing currently, but by the time they arrive it will be something. The new session, specifically. The whole scheme is also going to take around three years, due to the nature of paradox space.

They start litigating who's coming and who's staying behind in the dream bubbles. Aradia and Sollux are staying (naturally Karkat is throwing a temper tantrum that his buddy ain't coming.) Kanaya considers staying with the sun as she's enjoying the warmth and doesn't feel that useful beyond being a nightlight, but is reminded of her duty. She is responsible for the next mother grub and the continuation of the Alternian species. Rose also starts hitting on her, naturally.

Gamzee took Vriska and Sollux's bodies. Never turn your back on the bodies, assholes! Kanaya is going clown hunting to sort it out.

Karkat gets hit in the face with cultural insensitivity.

John's letter to the crew on the meteor.

vriska, if you read this, thanks again for all your help. i don't think i'd have made it this far if not for you! i just thought you should know that.

One last visitor arrives. Before setting out on her trans-paradox space hunt of Bec, Parcel Mistress sends a friend to a group she must place blind trust in.

They have to set out now, Bec is on their tail. Aradia and Sollux give them a push to send them on their way.

Act 6 Intermission 1 ends with Parcel Mistress setting out to hunt Bec. Elsewhere, we see some visions for A6A2.

Thank you for reading.
